After having done this at home... I have to say it really really
really sucks.  But being at a university, maybe you can just hold a
sledgehammer party with the students?

Depends on how old the Netapps are, but generally the older 3.5" disks
and shelves suck alot of power and generate alot of heat, so it's
probably not worth all that much.

You can always bootup the filers and hit Ctrl-C at the boot prompt to
get into maint mode and then scrub all the disks.  That would wipe all
your stuff off pretty much guaranteed.
