Naww...  I already gave them VPN.  It works, some of them use it.  Others
roam around from computer to computer, location to location, don't always
have their own laptop with them.  Prefer to login to the web browser and
simply edit a doc, rather than install vpn, reboot, open a vpn, browse file
share, and then edit a doc.  (Of course the first 2 steps are required only
the first time.)  They also have the convenience of saving password in the
browser, which I don't give them on the VPN.  Not sure if I can, even if I
want to.

The point is - the convenience of editing the doc inside a browser just
can't be beat.  For people who quickly think up something, want to jot it
down, and instantaneously move on to something else...
