This Manager, BIS Linux will be responsible for the Linux desktop
environment at Omgeo. This person will need to learn the Omgeo current
Linux environment to lead the strategy and execute against a plan that
migrates support from Omgeo's Technology organization into BIS. This
multi-year (2-3) initiative will ultimately transition steady-state
system administration and support delivery to the existing global
support model/team. The focus of this strategy will be automation,
compliance and consistency with existing BDS processes that exist for
Windows support as appropriate. The person will partner with the
Technology groups to understand their business requirements and make any
changes in direction as seamless as possible. 

 

This person will be responsible for leading evaluation efforts to
identify technical solutions to meet the goals of the strategy including
identifying external vendors. 

The Manager, BIS Linux will hire, train and lead a team of technicians
on various shifts in Boston and Manila providing global coverage across
shifts as well as deliver hands-on administration and support
him/herself. He/she will also cross-train Windows BDS staff on basic
Linux troubleshooting to add depth to support coverage and vice versa.

Ability to learn quickly and build solid relationships with end user
communities will be critical. 

This position requires a logical and structured approach to
troubleshooting, decision making and team emphasis with attention to
superior customer service.   This is a hands-on management role.

 

Accountabilities: 

*             Ensure prompt support solutions for Linux computer systems
services by phone, in person, via e-mail, or through remote sessions.

*             Manage team of Linux techs including performance
management, training and coverage.

*             Ensure proper coverage at all times.

*             Establish, document and communicate strategy, policies and
procedures to team.

*             Accurately document resolutions to ensure knowledge
sharing.

*             Set realistic expectations and communicate status of
projects to Technology organizations and BIS management

*             Effectively resolve escalated workstation issues.

*             Monitor Linux environment proactively to ensure optimal
performance and availability.

*             Ensure effective documentation of all support efforts into
the incident tracking system by team.

*             Contribute to the ongoing cycle of improving Helpdesk
processes

*             Support the New Hire, Termination, and Transfer processes
comply with Omgeo Corporate policies and procedures through proper
documentation and the timely execution of the workflow tasks.

*             Maintain accurate records of Omgeo's assets via timely and
accurate updates of the asset tracking system.

*             Learn Omgeo Windows environment to ensure cross-training
and coverage depth.

*             Perform miscellaneous task as needed.*
