So, you're comparing the speed of a 5 disk array with 1GB of RAM and single CPU with a 48 disk array with likely at least 16GB of RAM and multiple multi-core CPUs? Just the cache on the thumpers would make a huge difference, let alone the aggregate performance of so many disks, especially on large file transfers.

How does your small file performance compare?
