In contrast, I've had nothing but good luck with the procurves. Easy
to use, and totally solid.

As this is now the second person I've heard complaints from, I'd like
to know more. Which models did you have trouble with? I've had
excellent experiences with the 4000, 2524, 2850, and 2650. None too
big, so maybe the problems are on the larger lines?

At this point I like my managed switches to be procurve or cisco, and
my dinky unmanaged ones to be netgear.
