The Release Engineer will be responsible for managing code builds and
supervising day-to-day code integration activities for a team of ~10
developers. The candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining
portions of the integration and release processes for a large scale social
network/e-commerce website. The Release Engineer will be responsible for
maintaining environment configuration and controls, code integrity and code
conflict resolution. The Release Engineer will work closely with the Software
Development, Quality Assurance and Systems Engineering teams to improve and
implement best in class code management processes. The Release Engineer will
work collaboratively with the Systems Engineering team on ensuring build
systems work with existing code deployment methods. <br>

Responsibilities Include... <br>
<br>
&#8226; Create, maintain and support extensive build and test environments
(Development/Integration/Staging); <br>
&#8226; Create, publish and manage formal release notification, instructions; <br>
&#8226; Collaborate with the Systems Engineering team on deployment notes and
launch plans as needed; <br>
&#8226; Experience with setting up pre and post commit hooks in a version
control system such as Subversion; <br>
&#8226; General knowledge of Cron or other job scheduler preferred; <br>
&#8226; Comfortable in Linux (Red Hat, OpenSUSE); <br>
&#8226; Support and enhance build and release processes through automation
using a combination of processes, existing tools and enhancements; <br>
&#8226; Coordinate release activities with the Project Management, Systems
Engineering, Quality Assurance teams to ensure a smooth and trouble-free roll
out of releases; <br>
&#8226; Manage, deploy and support multiple concurrent releases through various
test environments; <br>
&#8226; Manage and maintain multiple test environments, ensuring that these
environments are properly setup, configured, and available for each project as
scheduled; <br>
&#8226; Trace complex build problems release issues and environment issues in a
multi-component environment; <br>
&#8226; Develop, maintain and enhance key parts of the daily build and release
procedures and processes; <br>
&#8226; Communicate and train management and other stakeholders where
applicable. <br>

Education, Experience &amp; Training Requirements... <br>
<br>
&#8226; BS or BA degree preferred <br>
&#8226; Solid understanding and practical experience of software development
life cycles, with particular emphasis on release engineering functions; <br>
&#8226; At least 3 years of experience with source control and build automation
solutions; <br>
&#8226; Solid understanding and experience with Agile software development
methodologies; <br>
&#8226; Excellent customer service attitude, communication skills (written and
verbal), and interpersonal skills; <br>
&#8226; Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills <br>
&#8226; Ability to be flexible and adapt to any given situation; <br>
&#8226; In-depth understanding of the principles and best practices of Software
Configuration Management; <br>
&#8226; Ability to work under pressure and in high stress situations with a
calm demeanor; <br>
&#8226; Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends in support of
deployments; <br>
&#8226; Experience working in an e-Commerce and/or social networking websites
