Join the IOPS Team at Harvard Medical School as a Senior Network Engineer.  We are a growing group in HMS Information Technology responsible for a major network upgrade of our data centers, core, backbone and edge.  Help us design and implement a cutting edge network infrastructure featuring a 100G distribution layer with multiple-10G connectivity at IDF layer.  HMS IT is the backbone that supports a world class medical and scientific training and research program with over 170 laboratories across 15 buildings, 2 data centers and into the cloud.  The HMS network supports more than 10,000 end points, multi-thousand core high performance compute clusters, 10s of petabytes of storage and is located among 220 acres, and more than 20 health care and research institutions at the center of the Longwood Medical Area in Boston, MA.

The Senior Network Engineer position is full time, salaried.  Successful candidates will have demonstrated experience with Nexus 7000 and 7700 series hardware.  We expect you to have expert level knowledge, including hands-on experience, of complex networking architecture.  You will be eager to take on new challenges and help design systems to move massive amounts of mission critical data.  You are highly self-motivated and eager to be part of a high performing committed team of IT professionals.

Responsibilities include:

•    Design and Implement mission-critical and scalable network infrastructure.
•    Review existing network designs and help identify areas to continue to build upon or improve.
•    Help troubleshoot network issues in any manifestation and document resolution
•    Provide advanced/expert level support to Network Operations to resolve incidents.
•    Prepare and maintain network diagrams, technical specifications, and system documentation.
•    Work to establish design principles and standards for all network components and configurations.
•    Assist in the evaluation of vendor proposals with respect to the hardware, communications protocols, switching and in the procurement of software and equipment.
•    Plan, Stage, Test and verify all changes to ensure changes occur without interruption.
•    Rack, stack and configure network hardware where needed.
•    Participate in a 7X24 on-call rotation.

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree, or equivalent professional experience required. 7 plus years of IT experience, and 3-5 years of relevant industry experience.

Additional Qualifications
Experience with Cisco routers and switches.
Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or
Cisco Certified Design Professional (CCDP) preferred but not required.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to participate in on call rotation.
