POSITION: Network Administrator
REPORTS TO: IT Systems Manager
EXEMPT POSITION
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Network Administrator is responsible for the installation, layout and
maintenance of all network components. In this hands-on role, the Network
Administrator plans, designs, analyzes and provides technical support for
data communications network and/or group of networks.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Responsible for daily monitoring and management of MACIPA’s network
configuration.
2. Configure and maintain network hardware, systems/network disaster
recovery procedures and assistance.
3. Analyze and resolve technical issues for established networks.
4. Manage multiple servers and ensure servers are running efficiently 24/7.
5. Troubleshoot network performance issues in a timely manner.
6. Serve as a technical specialist during network problems and emergencies.
7. Set up, configure and support internal and external networks and phone
systems.
8. Maintain a backup of all files, security and rights.
9. Document, track and monitor problems to ensure timely resolution.
10. Conduct technical research on network upgrades and components to
determine feasibility, cost, time required and compatibility with current
systems.
11. Recommend network solutions for short, medium and long range network
projects.
12. Determine plan layout for new hardware or modifications to existing
layout.
13. Establish user profiles, user environment, directories, and security
for networks being installed.
14. Work as a team member with other technical staff to ensure connectivity
and compatibility between systems.
15. Collaborate with vendors to resolve complex network problems.
16. Maintain confidentiality with regard to the information being
processed, stored or accessed by the network.
17. Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
1. Associate or Bachelor degree in Computer Science and/or comparable job
experience.
2 Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Windows Server Environment.
3. Minimum of 2 years’ experience deploying and managing VM Ware and Citrix.
4. Minimum of 4-7 years’ experience building and supporting network
infrastructure, servers and client/server applications in a multi-protocol,
multi-vendor environment.
5. Experience in healthcare and electronic medical record preferred by not
required.
6. Advanced understanding of network concepts, topologies, routing,
switching and protocols.
7. Experience with data protection, data backup and network bandwidth
management.
8. Experience with IP-based telecommunications systems and platform,
including planning, deployment and maintenance.
9. Thorough understanding of network security protocols and strategies,
including risk assessment and intrusion detection.
10. Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
11. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers,
subordinates and collaborators.
12. Perform work independently, make decisions and maintain confidentiality.
13. Occasional work at night and on-call beeper coverage.
14. Excellent computer and customer service skills required.
15. Responsibility for various assigned projects and tasks.
16. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
17. Ability to work on several projects simultaneously.
18. Logical and efficient with strong attention to detail.
19. Effective communication, problem solving skills.
20. Demonstrated ability to organize and work independently in a fast-paced
environment.
21. Current Massachusetts driver’s license and own vehicle.
ESSENTIAL ABILITIES
1. Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing, with or without reasonable

6. Ability to learn and carry out the primary responsibilities of the
assigned position.
7. Ability to effectively communicate in writing and orally on job progress
and other assignments and responsibilities.
8. Ability to conceive and articulate plans creates and manages detailed
projects, organize and prioritize work.
9. Ability to analyze data and exercise sound judgment in making decisions
and managing confidential or sensitive information.
