We presently have two openings on the Research Computing operations team
at the Broad Institute (www.broadinstitute.org). You can find them both
described at https://www.broadinstitute.org/careers/career-center
(search for "administrator").

The first, req #21, is a junior to mid-level position focused on
supporting our storage infrastructure. We are presently growing by
several PB/year; the latest projections call for up to 8PB of new
storage next year. We have a number of NetApp filers, three large Isilon
storage clusters, more Sun thumpers than I care to count, and a couple
of the new "amber road" storage clusters out of the Sun Fishworks group.
We are constantly evaluating new storage technologies, and wrestling
with issues of data management and data protection at large scale.

The second position, req #46, is a more senior level position with
primary responsibility for operation of our large and growing compute
farms (LSF, SGE) and the few hundred individual Linux servers serving
special-purpose duty, such as database servers, large-memory compute
servers, and individual app. servers.

The Broad is (or will be, as of next Wednesday) an independent,
not-for-profit biomedical research institute located in Kendall Square
and associated with MIT, Harvard, and the 14 Harvard teaching hospitals.
We presently have about 1000 employees and several hundred affiliate
members in the Boston area, and are focused on the large-scale
generation and analysis of data.

This is an excellent place to work for those that like large-scale
research computing in an academic environment, especially if you have
even a passing interest in the world of biology.

If this sounds like fun, I invite you to apply via the web site. If you
run into any difficulties in applying as the Broad transitions away from
MIT next week, feel free to contact me.

Principals only; no recruiters.

Best regards,

matter
