Storage Support Specialist

 

2+ year's technical experience in the storage environment including SAN
& NAS storage administration, problem solving and software
implementation.  Monitors the capacity and performance of storage (SAN,
NAS & Tape backup) components.  Troubleshoot and modify storage
subsystems to ensure all service levels are maintained.  Assist directly
in the development of long-range technology goals as they are related to
both hardware and software for the storage environment

 

SAN tasks with an approximate percentage involvement -

 

*          Capacity upgrade on current SAN (Brocade switches), Tier-2
storage sub-system (HDS 9580) and assist the vendor in adding upgrading
Tier-1 storage subsystems (HP/XP512)  - 5%

*          Implement additional capacities (configure LUN maps and
zones) - 5%

*          Document current SAN map using visio and validate SAN
documentation (one time) - 5%

*          Plan new changes due to supply chain or other new projects
and implement - 10%

*          Administer and maintain Tier-1 SAN, Tier-2 SAN, Tier-3 NAS
storage and Brocade switch environment. - 40%

*          Tier-2 domain and LUN mapping configurations using HDS
HiCommand and Disk Array Management Program (DAMP) utilities

*          Brocade Secure Fabric OS maintenance & configuration

*          Zone changes and maintenance

*          Adding new servers to the SAN

*          Monitor connectivity and script command line utilities

*          Troubleshoot connectivity

*          Meet service levels and storage requests

*          Support disaster recovery project, test schedules and changes
associated with it

*          Support SAN changes associated with backup environment

*          Proactively maintain the subsystems with firmware and OS
updates so that the current FTE is freed up to plan growth and strategic
upgrades - 5%

*          Upkeep storage maps and other important storage
documentations - 10%

*          Follow change control processes and documentation - 10%

*          Assist in evaluating new technology and supporting growth
plans. - 10%
