To interested parties:

I am an Associate Professor in the Economics department at Harvard
University, and I do a lot of empirical work with large proprietary
databases. For the past 4 years, I have had an outside consultant help
support my computer systems. On July 26th, he's leaving to start law
school, so the job is opening. The position takes roughly 2 hours a week,
and I believe it is the sort of job that should be in the $45-50/hr range
in terms of its requirements (depending on experience, etc.). I've
attached an ad below. Please contact either myself or Peter Brown if you
are interested. Contact info for both of us is below.

Many Thanks,
Julie Mortimer

Mid-Level Linux/UNIX systems administrator, support technician
3-4 years experience, SAGE level III

Linux/UNIX systems administrator will be responsible for providing
email and phone support for a minimum of 4 Linux servers and 1 OS X
desktop running statistical analysis & modeling software in an
academic environment. The ideal candidate will have experience
supporting multiple concurrent users working with large data sets of
a confidential nature. It will be the system administrators job to
ensure that the systems are up to date, adequately secured and backed
up. The systems administrator will work closely and report to the
systems' owner in all aspects of the systems management. Good
communication is required as these are not systems providing static
services, but dynamic computing environments used for economic
research with multiple users arriving and leaving the system on a semi-
annual basis.

Due to the nature of the computing environment the candidate must
have hands-on experience with computing hardware released from 2001 to the
present day and be able to troubleshoot software & hardware issues
with the users (phone, email) and through remote administration (ssh).

Requirements:
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 & 4
