Our client, a leading provider of health care information services, has an
immediate opening for a Unix Systems Administrator with a solid background
in both AIX systems and EMC Symmetrix.

 

Purpose of the position is to provide technical expertise to facilitate
planning, design, installation, modification and operation of information
systems capabilities.

 

*	3 to 6 month Contract - open to converting to a Perm./Direct Hire
employee
*	$50/hr 
*	Waltham, MA
*	Start ASAP

 

 

Responsibilities:

*          Monitors and tunes server, storage, and network performance

*          Designs and configures server and storage hardware

*          Installs and configures server and third-party software

*          Performs all necessary system and database backups

*          Provides server technical expertise to the user community

*          Evaluates vendor proposals for purchases of hardware, software,
and technical services to assure adherence to technical specifications
related to network administration, architectural platforms,
telecommunications, voice data integration and other system requirements

*          Prepares long and short range plans for application selection,
software systems development, systems maintenance, production activities and
necessary support resources

*          Plans and recommends capacity and configuration changes to
servers and associated storage

 

REQUIREMENTS

*          Advanced UNIX/Solaris/AIX experience is required

*          Extensive experience with Symmetrix is required

*          Veritas Foundation Suite and Veritas NetBackup experience 

*          Networking, firewall/security, and web server design/maintenance
experience is a plus

*          Familiarity with Microsoft Windows 2000/NT administration is also
desired

*          BS/BA in Information Sciences or equivalent experience
