Position: Linux Systems Administrator

Job Description:

The open position is part of a team that administers a scientific computing
center in Cambridge, MA.  Facilities include a ~250 node Linux cluster,
Cisco switches, and ~20 TB of RAID storage.   Duties include installation,
troubleshooting, and maintenance of computing infrastructure.  Other duties
include system configuration and tuning, network configuration and tuning,
monitoring system logs to proactively identify problems, and user support.
This position requires some after-hours work.

Required Education and skills:
·B.S. degree or equivalent.
·4+ years Linux systems administration.  University, research or
high-performance computing environment preferred.
·A solid understanding of distributed computing environments, including NIS,
NFS, autofs, DHCP, and monitoring tools.
·Experience with RAIDs.
·Ability to identify and automate routine tasks.
·Ability to configure and install open-source or third party software.

Desirable Skills:
·Programming background in C, C++.
·Experience with Cisco or EMC products
·Experience with queuing systems (SGE or OpenPBS)
·Experience with kickstart or jumpstart installations
